I sit on my front porch with the camera and telephoto lens carefully balanced on the railing, watching the hummingbirds and clicking off a few frames. Only a few are in focus and those are ones where the bird sits quietly between sips. I am happy with the effort.

The other picture in this diptych, the little blue shed, is a subtle reminder that summer is winding down. Just outside of the frame there are remnants of produce boxes and a few watermelon rinds. I know this stand is open on weekends with corn, tomatoes, blackberries, and melons for sale. But not for much longer. Today feels like a hint of fall and I am surprised that I feel a little sad.
