My neighbor was up at midnight last night, using her leaf blower to clear her driveway. We were sleeping with the windows up and it sounded like a jet engine taking off. I like her and I know she works hard. Midnight was probably the only time she had for this chore, so I didn’t complain. But my sleep was restless after that. I woke up at 5 am and did my back exercises. Then I noticed the morning light. A few photos. A few steps from my front door. As the early morning fog began to burn off.
I don’t usually take pictures like these. Ones where the subject is not so clear or well-defined. When I look at scenes like this — masses of leaves and globes of light — I struggle to ‘find’ the picture. I let go of trying so hard and just like that . . . the pictures appear.
