Sometimes things do not go from bad to worse. Sometimes they really do get better, too.
I’ve taken this photo before, in early spring, when everything was a sea of green. (I’m beginning to wonder if the owner EVER moves this truck.) I liked the picture okay, but it kind of looked like I was trying too hard. It was a picture that shouted, Look at me!
In this season, the tones are quiet and dark. The colors subdued. The sky overcast. There is an everydayness to the scene. Leaves lightly scattered along the street. Trees in transition between fall and winter. Trash cans set out for pick-up.
The picture got better. And even though, or perhaps because, the picture is a still life, there is an open invitation to hop in that truck and take a ride.
