When it comes to friends, there are those who are like “Second Me’s.” We think alike and enjoy many of the same things. And then there are the friends who are not-so-much like me, and yet still endearing and essential.
I think I am a puzzle to my friend Joni. She patiently tries to figure me out. Even though I am different from her, she has taken the time to get to know me. She sparks my creativity with her own and challenges my beliefs and long-standing habits and patterns. She is clever and funny and an amazing artist. She is the queen of gift-giving, always seeming to know exactly what present will truly delight the recipient. And though she occasionally threatens to let loose her evil twin, Jonette, she is actually tender-hearted.
I really do not feel confident taking these kinds of pictures at all. I feel awkward directing people to pose and yet not sure enough of my skills to capture those defining moments as they occur. Indoor lighting poses a challenge for me and I might just have to figure out how to use my flash. Regardless of technical difficulties, I’m really glad to be making these pictures of my forever friends.
