This print, Young Mother Sewing by Mary Cassatt, hangs on the wall of the stair landing. I see it every time I walk upstairs, and I love to watch the light of the day as it angles across the picture. Whether in the golden glow of morning’s first light, the sharp contrast of mid-day, or the glimmer of evening, I seldom fail to admire the print. It’s a part of my every day. And every day it reminds me how much we have to teach our children, and even each other, simply by doing what we need to do – with love.
