3/100

We made a road trip to Burke, Virginia to District Camera, my favorite place to shop for all things photography. I purchased a used Canon 85mm, f 1.8 lens with this project, 100 Strangers, in mind. I’ve read the reviews and done my research, and I think this lens will be a good fit for my shooting style and photographic vision.

On the way home we stopped at The Workhouse Art Center, which was previously the Lorton Correctional Facility. The history of the center is fascinating . . . and a story for another post.

As we walked the grounds, I was immediately drawn to a lovely woman wearing a green chartreuse rain jacket. She carried her art supplies and awaited the time for her painting class to begin. With little fanfare, I explained my project and told her how much I loved her jacket, her quiet smile and her blue eyes. I asked if I could take her picture and suggested a spot for her to stand.
