I don’t know this guy’s story, but what I do know is this.

When I chased him down on a gray almost-winter-morning, along a downtown street, saying, Excuse me, excuse me. May I take your picture?, he turned around and smiled.

With no reluctance or hesitation, he replied, Sure. He didn’t adopt a pose or even ask me what I’d like for him to do. Instead, he looked directly at me, confident and at-ease.

I don’t know that conversations like these change the world in any big way, but I am certain that they change the world in some small and significant way. Certain these moments of connection can change us forever.

You can learn so much by looking into the eyes of another human.
